Pacific madrone has exceptional resistance to breakage making it suitable for joinery. Pacific madrone wood has good strength properties. However young pacific madrone trees don younger stems which may range from green to chartreuse. Being a shrub it is not easy to find enough wood to make say exotic floors.

Conservation edit although drought tolerant and relatively fast growing arbutus menziesii is currently declining throughout most of its range. The 5 wide engineered flooring is available unfinished or prefinished with a natural satin oil that provides a low sheen without harmful chemicals. However water based glue joints should be thoroughly dry before further machining to avoid subsequent sunken glue lines. Wood floor lovers crave the spectral bark hues of this tree.

Madrone is an excellent turning wood and also takes stains and finishes well. Ours is sourced from the umpqua and rogue valleys of oregon where it grows well in the rich soils.
